FaceBook has always been more attractive to me. I have a vast array of friends on the network. Those I agree with and those I don’t. People I went to high school with, worked with and many others. I’ve been able to use it to get in touch with people I thought long lost from my life.

However, I think it is time for a change. MeWe and Parler are the newer kids on the block.

To be blunt, I am currently not as big of a fan of Parler. It is more “Twitter-like” and in too many ways. I see few voices and fewer diverse views. That doesn’t appeal to me. Many like the echo chamber, but I’m not one of them. Also, Parler currently seems to be of a “one-track mind”. All politics, all the time. That doesn’t work for me.

Some of the people I disagree with politically are people I really like personally. I want to know how their lives are going… see stories about their triumphs. Hear about the things that matter in their lives more than what has happened in DC this week or last.

MeWe is currently doing a better job of attracting my attention. I haven’t dived into a bunch of political groups, and my feed is much more diverse. Jeeps, Writing, Photography. There is a little political talk, but it isn’t overwhelming.

To me, whether I agree with the content or not, the mistake Twitter and FaceBook are making is telling me what I’m allowed to see. I won’t leave… not yet, there are too many people I care about on those networks… but I will not be focusing on them.
