Who, What, When, Why? The fourth book in the Dixon-Prince series is live on Amazon for Kindle. It isn’t available for Kindle Unlimited at this time, though. But it’s only $2.99.

This book is a collection of stories that are before, around and after the main line stories in the Broken Path series (I’m thinking of changing the name of the series to Dixon-Prince… we’ll see). Many of the characters are people you got to know in the other books in the series, but there are a few new characters as well.

Currently, I’m working on the fifth book in the series, and I’d LOVE to hear your ideas about some of the characters and what stores YOU would like to hear. Do you want to know more about Sean Murphy? What about Gino Bell? Might Duke Smythe have an interesting past? Or maybe Ronny Torres? (I know that Ronny has a very interesting past… I just have to figure out the details)

I’d love to hear what you think.

As a little sneak peak, Gunny is in the Middle East right now, and he is in some trouble. I can’t wait to find out what happens.

Planning Vengeance, Dig Two Graves and You Don’t Know Jack will be dropping from the Kindle Unlimited service over the next few weeks.

Planning Vengeance will end its run there on May 24th. Dig Two Graves ends on May 20th and You Don’t Know Jack drops off on May 13th.

All three books will still be available on Kindle, but not the Kindle Unlimited free reading service. This will allow me to promote them in a few more ways.

But that still means that there is time for you to dive in and give them a read if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, before they end their runs there. I wanted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to give them a read before they expired.

Of course, my heart won’t break if you buy a copy of each book to read, in either paperback or Kindle. And I’ll actually get excited if you leave a review… especially if it’s good. Reviews are hard to come by for authors that are just starting out.

If you have been disappointed by any of the stories, I’d love to know that, too. Book three of the Jack Dixon series, You Don’t Know Jack, is now available through Print on Demand from Amazon books for $12.99.

Jack, who has seen his photography career really take off, finds himself on the US-Mexico border working on a story. He, along with his two companions, run afoul of a cartel squad smuggling drugs across the border and end up kidnapped and transported to Columbia. Jack’s father, Ed, and his father in law, Bill Prince, enlist the help of Gunny Grafton and his team to get Jack back.

Later in the book, Rolf Richter, Nicole Dixon’s high school boyfriend, returns from Germany hoping to rekindle the romance between him and Nicole. But Rolf did not have an easy time after his stint in the US as an exchange student, and has a secret of his own.

Jump in and join Jack and his friends on their exciting journeys. Now all three of the Jack Dixon centered books are available on both Kindle and Print on Demand.

Book Three, You Don’t Know Jack, has been loaded on Amazon for Print-On-Demand. It takes a day or three for them to get it through the approval process before it becomes available… but the clock is ticking!

I just got word a few days ago that my second book, Dig Two Graves, has gone live on Amazon for Print on Demand.

First, I’m REALLY stoked that both parts of that story are now live and available for purchase as a paperback. Dig Two Graves joins Planning Vengeance in the PoD system.

What is Print on Demand, you ask?

It’s actually pretty cool, especially for a new author. Amazon (and others, I’m sure) offer the ability to have a book set up and it is only printed AS it is ordered by buyers. That means that the author or publishing company doesn’t have to commit to printing a large number of books in order to have a printed copy.

The way it has almost always worked before is that (generally) the author would have to order and pay for some number of books… and often that number would be in the thousands. In fact, often there would be small publishing companies and their primary business plan was to entice authors to print books. They didn’t care if they were ever “sold” beyond the author paying for them to be printed.

In the end, an author might end up with five thousand books in his garage that he paid $25,000 to have printed… and NO idea how to get them sold.

That could be on top of spending a few thousand dollars on cover art and a couple thousand more for editing services. All told, the publishing company would bill out some large fees for the services that were being performed for the author that they were publishing.

That still goes on…

Of course, if you are a big name author, that isn’t the case. You aren’t a risk. A publisher can print thousands of copies and bet they will be sold. Sometimes it doesn’t work out… and we see those books in the bargain bin… but usually it works just fine.

And that isn’t to say that there aren’t some AWESOME publishers out there that really want their authors to succeed. But it is a risky thing to take on a new writer… one without a following… one that hasn’t shown the ability to make it in the market.

Much of that is why I chose to “self-publish”… but that is another post.
