Starting Monday, June 1st, I’ll be posting up an except from Planning Vengeance – Broken Path Part I here. There will be a new section Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays of each week. The full book is currently on sale on Amazon for Kindle, priced at $0.99. The regular price is $2.99. It is also available as a paperback for $12.99. I’ll keep the sale running until just after the excerpts are all posted.

There will be around nine excerpts posted (it might end up as eight or ten, too… we’ll see). the next goal is to offer up a copy of the book for free for joining my mailing list. But that isn’t ready to happen quite yet…

After looking through the books and coming to grips with reality, I have made a change in the title and numbering system. This doesn’t affect the stories, but did require a minor redesign of the covers.

Now, the series is Dixon-Prince. The first two books, Planning Vengeance and Dig Two Graves are Part I and Part II of Broken Path, but the other books don’t have Broken Path in their titles or on their covers. Now You Don’t Know Jack and Who, What, When, Why? are Dixon-Prince Books 3 and 4.

If you have a print of one of the early books, and these really take off (fingers crossed) then it might be a real collectors item… but I wouldn’t plan buying the island quite yet.

Of course I made the same changes to the new editions of the books on Kindle, but I don’t think the Kindle file will ever become a collectible.

On another note, the books are no longer available on Kindle Unlimited. While they were enrolled in that program, I couldn’t publish them digitally anywhere else. I have been wanting to drop some teasers onto the blog, but couldn’t. Now I can… and will.

The fourth book in the Dixon-Prince series, Who, What, When, Why? is available from Amazon through Print on Demand.

This time, we have a collection of shorter stories that revolve around characters from the other three books. These are before, after or even parallel to the other stories.

Have you wondered what happened to Paul and Sean Murphy? What about how Jack and Amy finally managed to get married? Rolf kind of disappeared and reappeared. And Anna must have a story.

Those are just a few of the questions and stories from Who, What, When, Why? Check it out on Kindle, or now, Print on Demand.

Planning Vengeance, the first half of the Broken Path story, will be dropping off Kindle Unlimited on May 24th. It is the first of the Dixon-Prince series of books and sets everything up for the rest of the stories.

Jack Dixon has a crush on Amy Prince… he has had it for as long as he’s known her. The problem is that she has had a boyfriend, Paul Murphy, for almost as long. And Murphy has always been an ogre. But in a lucky turn of events, Paul and Amy break up.

Jack takes his shot. But that only makes Murphy spin out of control. The problems quickly escalate past the normal teenage grudge. It seems that there are some secrets in the Murphy household. And the Dixon and Prince families have their own secrets.

Everything leads down a Broken Path, culminating in the second half of the story, Dig Two Graves. Don’t forget the old proverb, “When planning revenge, it is best to dig two graves.”

Don’t forget, my books will be expiring from Kindle Unlimited in the next few weeks. They will still be available on Kindle, but not free for KU readers. There may be specials from time to time, but if you are a KU reader, this is the best time to grab them while you can read them for free!

Planning Vengeance, Broken Path Part I, a part of the Dixon-Prince series, will be expiring May 24th, 2020.

The conclusion of that story, Dig Two Graves, Broken Path Part II, a part of the Dixon-Prince series, will be expiring on May 20th, 2020. I don’t know what time the expiration occurs, nor if books already downloaded can still be read without purchase.

The third book of the Dixon-Prince series is a stand-alone story, but there are some spoilers for plot points for the first couple of books, but aside from that, it could be read out of order.

That book, You Don’t Know Jack, the third part of the Dixon-Prince series, will be expiring on May 13th.

Jack Dixon finds himself in dire straights on a photo assignment in Arizona. Once again the team assembles to help him out. After that is concluded, Amy and Nicole have their own brush with trouble and need a hand.

Who, What, When, Why? the fourth book in the Dixon-Prince series, has not been part of the Kindle Unlimited program, but a couple of stories were actually featured on this blog, The Hacker and The Proposal . I might put another story or two from that book on the blog as serials (which I am not allowed to do if it is part of Kindle Unlimited).

That book is a compilation of stories centered around the characters from the other books. They are side-stories, background or epilogues. They weren’t long enough for their own book, but they were interesting stories, nonetheless. That also makes them nice serials for the blog. A full novel would either take several months to cover in an episodic format, or would have VERY long individual posts. But these, because they are bite-sized, are much easier to digest in a blog format over a few weeks.

I really appreciate all of the support I’ve had while writing these books. The encouragement has been wonderful, as well as all of the excellent feedback and constructive criticism… especially from my “beta readers”. Trust me, I have hung on every word and poured over the changes that have been suggested, whether they were typos, changes to the character arcs or adjustment to the plot points.

If you didn’t know, I have been a Scout leader for years… Den Leader, Cub Master, and District Committee. As part of that, I went through Wood Badge Leadership training. It is adult oriented leadership training… and if you EVER have the chance to do it, I can’t say enough positive things about it. But this isn’t about that… it’s about one thing drilled into us CONSTANTLY during Wood Badge.

Feedback is a GIFT. Treasure it. Listen. Encourage it. Even when it hurts, it helps. Constructive feedback is one of the most valuable things we can ever receive. Don’t ignore it and let it slip away in order to soothe your ego. Take it in and examine it.

As a writer, I absolutely feel the same way. I LOVE getting feedback. Even when it isn’t “that was the best thing I’ve ever read” comments. In fact, I would rather get one heartfelt “I wish that ___ would have reacted differently when ____ happened. I didn’t think that washed.” There are a LOT of reasons for that. First, it tells me that you really care. Heck, it’s really easy to tell someone “it was great” and then roll on. But it is WAY harder to get specific. It tells me that you paid attention. And it tells me that you thought about it.

Of course, that is different than “Gee, your book sucked.” That doesn’t do anything. But if you tell me that “your main character had things too easy” or “you used the wrong kind of weapon, that one wasn’t available/widely used at that time”, those are actionable.

I’ll be honest, I might NOT take action on them, but it will certainly change how I write in the future.

Some actual feedback that I’ve gotten has been that Jack’s personal growth in Planning Vengeance was too fast and too much. I also had the comment that I described the cars too much. In the first case, I changed the book (this was before publication… but I’m not averse to alterations AFTER publication if it is major). In the second case, I chose to leave the descriptions because I feel the cars are part of the story… they are part of my story.

Some of the other commentary that I go affected the arc of the second book, Dig Two Graves. And I know that the comments affected the third and fourth books immensely.
