Maybe the same goals. I thought August was a bloodbath… until September. A few things happened that made it a little worse across a variety of fronts.
Book sales… Ouch. Didn’t get anywhere close to the 50 I was looking for (and/or equivalent KU page reads. Renewing that goal, but this time I am going to pump a little marketing toward it.
Vocal Reads… I have been hunting for 300 reads in a month, and I thought I was on track. But, I didn’t produce a lot of material for the short stories. Apparently I need to make sure to produce regular content for that channel.
Blog Subscribers… I was hoping to get 15 new subscribers. Didn’t manage that, either. I did, however, manage to get a few more subscribers than I had picked up in any other month this year.
Bonus Goal… Vocal.Media recently rolled out subscriptions on their platform. I have been lucky to get a healthy number of subscribers in the first few weeks. I’d like to build on that… Doubling would be really cool (going from 54 to 100… but I think that getting to 75 would be a good start. That will take a lot of new material, though.
Am I happy with the performance last month? Not at all. I like writing, and would love to find a way forward to get enough revenue to make it worthwhile. I have one story out to beta readers right ow, and two others that are 50% of the way to being ready for beta readers. I also have an outline to write for NaNoWriMo next month.
I’m disappointed mostly because I can see that MY effort toward my goals is why I didn’t reach them. Had I marketed and pushed, I might have been able to get there… at least three out of four. Those subscriber goals are the tough ones.
FaceBook hasn’t made anything easy for me lately. I have tried to pick up the slack with MeWe, Parler and Gab, but FB has throttled my ability to share posts about my books or my blog or Vocal. If you run across one, feel free to like and share. It is shocking to me that despite regular postings about my novels, there are friends that don’t know I have written a book, much less that I have a catalog of 8 books.
