As she got to the top of the ramp onto LaSalle, the cars behind had dropped back another hundred yards. She shifted to third and punched the throttle again. After the momentary pause in acceleration, the car leapt forward again, almost touching a hundred miles per hour before shifting to fourth. When she hit one-twenty-five, she lifted off the gas and the car rapidly bled off its speed.

“Put down your gun, or I’ll kill her,” the man yelled again.
“And then what? If you shoot her, you don’t have a shield anymore. So, shooting her would be the worst thing to happen to you in your miserable life.”

Next up will be some parts from the third book in the Dixon-Prince series, You Don’t Know Jack. In this book, Jack runs into an issue, and it drags the team in as well. Later in the book, Amy and Nicole have their own problem to solve.

In the parking lot, Paul sat in his darkened car. He was holding a rifle scope in his hand. From his vantage point, all he could see above the seawall was Jack’s head. If he thought he could make the shot, he would get the rifle from the trunk and take it.
