Syndication is another part of a solid social media and social networking strategy. One of the biggest pitfalls of social media and social networking is maintaining a presence in many locations. It can be a serious time suck. Updating a bunch of site individually could take hours… Even just keeping up with all of the profiles could be more than many people could handle.
Luckily, there are some tools that can make life WAY easier. Posterous, AtomKeep and FriendFeed are three that come to mind…

Aggregation is one part of a social networking and social media strategy. Simply put, in order to keep up with the rush of information, we need to collect, classify and filter it. This allows us to spend the most time on the most important information, and skip the rest.

I just got my Google Wave invite. I have watched a few of the videos, and I am going to have to give this thing a rip. Combining text, chat, video, audio and a bunch of things I haven’t even thought of yet… with email… seems pretty cool.
Thinking back not all that long ago, I wasn’t doing most of those things seperately, much less combined. In fact, a few years ago, many of these technologies not widely adopted because of the bandwidth required.

While at New Media Atlanta last week I was introduced to a new tool toy. BackNoise. I think the easiest ways to describe it are as follows…
Back Noise: baak_noiz, 1. Useful tool to gauge reactions to speakers or other aspects of an event, allowing event participants to freely exchange information with each other during the event. 2. A cross between twitter and a convention of hecklers, often snarking just to snark.
Please note, it is often rude, and the language might make a sailor blush.
But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a useful tool. It just needs to be understood for what it is… And I probably saw it differently than most of the people that were watching it at New Media Atlanta. Most of the viewers were the hecklers event-goers. A much smaller group were the targets actual presenters. Since I spent much of the day in the Rockstar Lounge… where the speakers gathered… I was able to listen to the speakers conversing as they read the BackNoise (I just checked and the conversation has expired… so I can’t link to it).
